Welcome to Penn's Government and Politics Association!
GPA is the largest political organization at Penn, providing a variety of opportunities for students to exchange ideas and gain experience with political initatives on campus and in the community.
Devoted to non-partisan and balanced dialogue, Penn GPA does not adopt positions on political issues; we leave it to our participants to form and develop their own perspectives. Our organization consists of four main branches, each of which caters to a different aspect of political life on campus. Students of all political leanings and interests can find a home within GPA.

PENN POLITICAL UNION
The Penn Political Union is a formal political debate organization featuring a wide range of political viewpoints. PPU meets every month to debate a piece of legislation presented by one of the caucuses, with additional events featuring both Penn professors and external speakers representing a diverse array of perspectives. PPU also houses GPA's chapter of College Youth in Government, which offers participants the opportunity to interact with lawmakers, travel to Washington, and engage with the institutions of state and local government.

THE POLYBIAN SOCIETY
The Polybian Society, Penn GPA’s intellectual discussion group, offers Penn students the opportunity to consider and exchange ideas in a welcoming, informal setting, meeting every week to discuss a political topic at hand. The Polybian Society was established to provide a venue for open and thoughtful political debate and discussion without espousing any specific political viewpoint, while simultaneously creating a fun social community where students can meet and exchange ideas with peers interested in politics and philosophy.

Columnists contribute to an online blog and a quarterly print publication. Students at Penn who feel passionately about a political issue can publish their thoughts through PPR, which features a wide spectrum of student, faculty, and guest opinions from the University of Pennsylvania and beyond.
