Welcome to Penn GPA!
PENN GPA IS THE LARGEST POLITICAL GROUP ON CAMPUS, PROVIDing A VARIETY OF WAYS FOR STUDENTS TO EXCHANGE IDEAS WHILE ALSO ACTING UPON THEM ON CAMPUS AND IN THE COMMUNITY.
Devoted to non-partisan and balanced dialogue, Penn GPA does not adopt positions on political issues; we leave it to our participants to make up their own minds. The group is divided into four main branches: the Polybian Society, the Penn Political Union, the Penn Political Review, and Penn Policy Action. Each branch caters to a different aspect of political life on campus, allowing students with diverse interests to find a home within GPA. In addition to our branches, GPA conducts events with politicians and professors of all political leanings.
The Penn Political Union is a formal political debate organization featuring a wide range of political viewpoints. PPU meets the third Thursday of every month to debate a piece of legislation from one of the caucuses. The PPU also houses GPA's chapter of College Youth in Government, which offers participants the opportunity to interact with lawmakers, travel to Washington, and engage with the institutions of state and local government.

The Polybian Society, Penn GPA’s intellectual discussion society, offers Penn students the opportunity to consider and exchange ideas. The Polybian Society was created to provide a venue for open and thoughtful political debate and discussion without espousing any specific political viewpoint, while simultaneously creating a fun social community where can meet and discuss with other students interested in politics and philosophy.

The Penn Political Review is GPA's political publication. In an increasingly polarized political environment, PPR is proud to remain an open, non-partisan forum for reasoned political dialogue. Columnists from the organization contribute to an online blog and a quarterly print publication. Students at Penn who feel passionately about a political issue can publish their thoughts through The PPR. Our publication includes a wide spectrum of student, faculty, and guest opinions from the University of Pennsylvania and beyond.

Penn Policy Action is a legislative advocacy program where members spend a year writing original policy, navigating the legislative process, consulting with legislative offices and partner organizations, and working to get policy passed. It strives to create and implement nonpartisan and feasible policies at the state and federal level, aiming to gain support from offices and organizations across the political spectrum. Members spend time searching for areas of improvement in all sectors of society then seeking tangible and creative solutions, drilling down on the specifics of our proposal.
