FBI hiring requirements
We propose that Congress direct the FBI to conduct a report evaluating the current state of the FBI’s III system with recommendations for improving the accuracy and completeness of its records. Within the report, the Attorney General should consider the efficacy of two potential recommendations that could be effective in solving the problems associated with the III: requiring the FBI to send job applicants a copy of their rap sheet and appeals information, and requiring employing federal agencies to do the same. The FBI should consult with relevant stakeholder groups, including the Compact Council, federal and state departments of labor, and state police agencies.
